Breakfast at Antonio's

The redeeming factor of our recent Tagaytay trip is our lunch at Breakfast at Antonio’s. I’ve read so many rave reviews online about this place and I’m happy that I wasn’t disappointed. I love the place! It’s a big compound but feels very homey! The gardens surrounding the two main halls, I think, made the place cozy. Here are some a lot of photos of the garden.

Miya had so much fun walking around the garden

This is the main restaurant - Antonio's
I love this garden set - feeling ko bahay ko!
We just had to take a family photo - at our sala LOL!
Another family photo

Everyone was happy with what they ordered. I would have been happy if the rice had bigger portion hahaha! Suffice it to say, I was the only one not so happy with my order. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tasted some of what my friends ordered, and they are delicious. My pork barbqcue is delicious as well, I just blame my simple taste for not appreciating it that much. The barbecue has some herbs and spices kasi just like how Jamie Oliver does his <> and I was only expecting a Reyes bbq for my order hahaha! It’s just that for this breastfeeding mom, I want my portions BIG! But don’t worry, I was still full when I left the restaurant because I ate an extra slice of pizza and pancake aside from the pork barbeque I ordered hahah.

Now, we're happy!

This is also where Miya learned how to drink from a straw. I ordered their mango slushy and as usual, Miya wanted to cry it. I was surprised that the straw got cold, meaning the mango slushy is going up the straw towards her mouth. Hurrah! Galing mo, anak!

Miya: Told you I can do it!
Btw, we also saw Anne Curtis and her beau dining there hehe. Icing on the cake? =P

Before the Weddings

Last Thursday night, we met up with the gang for a much needed dinner/get-together. The brides and grooms gave their wedding invitations and we're all excited with the upcoming weddings. Yes, we have two weddings in May and then another one on the first week of June.

We all met up and had dinner at Uncle Cheffy's in Eastwood Mall. The first ones to arrive are me and Joema and then Janice and Penny, together with Pao came since their office was just a few blocks from the mall. We ordered Cheese Panizza, Seafood Panizza and some ribs. Everything was delicious. I was starving so when the food arrived we immediately started eating. Mands and Weng arrived just in time before the food arrived. They immediately gave us their invites which had a sticker with a mirror image of their names. So cool!

Since their wedding is a in a few weeks, pretty much everything's taken cared of. I'm kind of jealous because their honeymoon is in Italy...la vita e bella!

Jose, Charline and Allan were a bit late because of work. We had to order another round of panizza and ribs for them. While Mands and Weng's invites had a cool mirror image of their names, Allan and Charline's wedding invite had math symbols on it. How many can you find?

Like Mands and Weng, Allan and Charline are done with almost everything for their wedding. Now this two lovebirds are taking a cruise on their honeymoon..another jealous moment for me hahaha! Steve and Rhea's is the third wedding but they weren't able to come to dinner.

Here are more photos from that night.

Charline and Allan rocking it!

Jose is famous!

Chicken in Basil, Tomato and Cream Cheese

Remember when I blogged about us eating healthy? Well, I experimented again and made this sandwich. I just put basil leaves on some olive oil and then marinate the chicken breast there for a few minutes. Then I fry the chicken on a gridle. No need to put oil on the gridle because the chicken has olive oil on it already. And then I start making the sandwich. Just added some cream cheese and tomatoes..voila! My inspiration for this is the tomato, basil and cream cheese in bagel sandwich from Starbucks that my husband ordered a while back. I thought that was easy to do and they charged us what almost a hundred bucks I think. I can do that too but I need to add chicken, you know for protein hehe.

Healthy Eating

We've been trying to eat healthy - less pork and more fish and chicken (without the skin). Over the weekend, we had pasta but not our usual ground pork and spaghetti sauce. I researched for an easy tuna pasta recipe which I found here. The recipe:

8 ounces whole-wheat spaghetti
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 anchovies, minced (optional)
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper, or to taste
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can chunk light tuna, drained and flaked
2 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook spaghetti, stirring occasionally, until just tender, 9 to 11 minutes or according to package directions. Drain.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add anchovies (if using) and crushed red pepper and cook for 30 seconds more. Add tomatoes, reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 minutes. Stir in tuna and cook until it is incorporated into the sauce and heated through, 2 minutes more. Divide the spaghetti evenly among 4 plates, top with sauce and garnish with basil. Serve hot.

Since we didn't have canned diced tomatoes, I used the bottled tomato pesto sauce that we bought. And I don't care much for anchovies so I didn't include it. I used the hot and spicy variant of Century Tuna. Et voila!

Okay I realized what I cooked is totally different from the recipe ahahaha! But it's very very easy to do..and tastes so good!

Busog Biyernes

Last Friday was just full of food, food and more food. I ate lunch past lunchtime and only ate smoked salmon sandwich. I guess it's a wise decision to eat sandwich for lunch because by 3pm we had merienda of pansit, cake, doughnuts and ice cream. Yummy! It was Ge's birthday and Rita's and Riza's children were there so they bought the desserts.

Dinner time I met up with the flyfish gang and ate at Secret Recipe. Janice and Penny picked me up at the office. By around 830pm we're already at The Fort. Like the usual dinner dates with them, it was filled with good food and good conversation. I ordered their Thai fried rice which is so good. Their lamb is also good. I'm not that excited with their desserts but it's okay. We talked about Jose's health, Janice's new job, Steve's lovelife, Penny's and my wedding preps, Charline and Allan's lovelife as well. We then had coffee at Krispy Kreme's at Bonifacio High Street where Mands followed. He then told us about his budding "relationship". I'm really happy for Steve and Mands. I hope this is their chance to find true love haha. As cheesy as that may sound I really hope this is it for them.

Break Muna

Took this picture the other day. I had candies for merienda. I can't stop eating sweets again. That's why I can't shed the extra pounds I gained during the holidays. Today naman I'm so full because we went out for lunch at Max's - pansit, chicken, lumpiang sariwa, lumpiang shanghai, crispy pata! Haayy...mamatay sa sarap!
