Labor Day

Our labor day holiday was packed. We, the fam with Joema, had lunch at Saisaki. We were actually there early so we waited for a while. We were all full after lunch. I think I went back to the buffet table 5 times. My frist plate was all Japanese food, then I headed for the Filipino food, and then went back for lechon de leche and then went back again for the sashimi and then finally dessert. While there we saw them filleting a big salmon. I was asked to wait for the salmon sashimi because they were still filleting the fish. It was so big. Almost as long as our table! Their band sang at our table. I am totally forgetting the two songs they sang.

After lunch we headed to the mall and did some shopping. The mall was brimming with people because of the sale. Frankly, we were there because of the sale too. The first thing we bought was a cellphone for our househelp (althought that wasn't on sale). And then we headed for the clothes. Joema and I bought outfits for our upcoming prenup shoot hehe. We were all exhausted with all that shopping (nyek!) it felt like the food we ate are all gone by the time we went home. Actually Joema and I didn't go home with them, we went straight to our friendly neighborhood salon, together with my mother, to have my haircut. My mother had hers too. Joema and I then headed to dinner with our friends. As usual everyone was late but that's okay because we waited for a while to be seated. Again, food food food. Goodbye diet! I officialy declared May 1 as my cheat day.

See my new hair (never mind that I have the same clothes during lunch and dinner)

Busog Biyernes

Last Friday was just full of food, food and more food. I ate lunch past lunchtime and only ate smoked salmon sandwich. I guess it's a wise decision to eat sandwich for lunch because by 3pm we had merienda of pansit, cake, doughnuts and ice cream. Yummy! It was Ge's birthday and Rita's and Riza's children were there so they bought the desserts.

Dinner time I met up with the flyfish gang and ate at Secret Recipe. Janice and Penny picked me up at the office. By around 830pm we're already at The Fort. Like the usual dinner dates with them, it was filled with good food and good conversation. I ordered their Thai fried rice which is so good. Their lamb is also good. I'm not that excited with their desserts but it's okay. We talked about Jose's health, Janice's new job, Steve's lovelife, Penny's and my wedding preps, Charline and Allan's lovelife as well. We then had coffee at Krispy Kreme's at Bonifacio High Street where Mands followed. He then told us about his budding "relationship". I'm really happy for Steve and Mands. I hope this is their chance to find true love haha. As cheesy as that may sound I really hope this is it for them.

Makati, Beyond and Back

I left for Makati a few minutes past 6pm last Friday. By 7pm I was waiting at Watsons at Enterprise for Janice. We were supposed to have dinner at Amici (near Don Bosco) with Mands, Jose, Charline, Allan, Steve and Penny. Mands even texted that they are about to leave their office in 10 minutes. And so we left Enterprise thinking we’ll have dinner in a few minutes. Our route was supposed to be this (see the blue line):

From Mands’ instruction, we’re to park at Walter Mart because parking is free there for Amici patrons. From Amorsolo we turned right, and where do we end up:

Skyway! For crying out loud! Wahahahaha! And we weren’t the only one lost …there was a Honda CRV in front of us slowing down when we reached the ramp. Looks like the driver, like us, was trying to find a way out. Hay naku! I was texting Mands na sa Tagaytay na lang kami mag-dinner. As in serious ako ha! I was worried that the traffic going back to Makati would be so heavy that we’ll end up arriving there after they had dinner. Actually our benchmark was if Penny arrives first before us super natagalan na talaga kami (Penny was coming from another dinner party so she arrived late). Another funny thing was Janice didn’t have enough cash with her. The Skyway toll was P85 one way! Nung pabalik na kami I had to pay half of the toll fee coz she paid for the fee coming from Makati. Well, actually I should really pay for half dahil libre na nga yung sakay ko sa kanya. Sabi nya buti na lang daw kasama nya ko dahil kung hindi dadaan sya ng traffic dahil kulang ang cash nya na mag-Skyway ulit. Tsk! Libre nga dinner namin (thanks to Jose, Mands and Steve!!!) kaso naglabas din kami ng pera dahil sa Skyway hahahaha! Kakaibang adventure talaga yun! More pictures of our adventure and dinner here.

Another June 5 post

Last Friday was our birthday treat for Charline and Steve. We ate at Sumo-sam, Power Plant. The food was great! We had a lot of catching up to do. The last time we saw each other was two months ago during Penny's birthday celeb. As always, we talked about the people who weren't there haha. People who will probably be transferring to another company, people who have already transferred. Chismis galore talaga! Mands was only able to join us after all of us were done eating. Kasi naman may bowling bowling pa. Wala tuloy sya sa group picture...

It was so hot at the resto so we transferred to Seattle's Best to hear about Mands' love life. But before we went there photo-op muna with the cars (solo pic naman si Mands pambawi dahil wala sya sa group pic). Back to Mands' love life...unfortunately, it ended with a sad note. And I won't divulge it here dahil gusto ko pa mabuhay. It was a bit ironic because while Mands was telling us his story, Janice was having us sign her guest book from their wedding. Sayang I wasn't able to take pictures of the album. It was so pretty. They had their prenup at UP, where else! We had problems pa writing on it dahil sa material nung album and the pens we were using were not working. Imagine we had 4 pens that we tried using. Si Steve nag-sign kalahati in black ink, yung kalahati in blue. :) Kapal muks namin dahil there were 9 of us but only two bought coffees. At talagang tumambay lang kami don at nagkodakan.

I didn't realize I had to pay to DL episodes of Silence. Oh well, a girl can't have everything.

Solidify my Presence*

First time nung Friday na ibang combo ng friends ang kasama ko - Joel, Gary and Mands - na mag-dinner. Well, they sort of belong to different circles of friends. Joel and Gary are friends from IL while Mands is a friend from Philam. But since the actuarial field is a small one – either you know each other from school (Mands and Joel) or you end up being officemates (Gary and Mands). Haha talk about six degrees of separation. Anyhow, the original plan was Gary will treat me and Joel to dinner. But since he said that he’ll be able to leave work at 7:30pm pa we called him para pilitin na umalis sya ng maaga. Mands answered the phone and we invited him instead to dinner (and would have left out Gary pang-asar lang sana haha). We ate at Crustacia at Rockwell.

Bumangka si Joel buong gabi hahahaha. Dami nyang kwento about his office, the upcoming Ms. Universe pageant, religion (religion daw o!), mussels and the light saber (na di ma-gets ni Mands). We left Starbucks past midnight. Good thing Mands offered, well I offered that Mands take me home wehehehe.

Oh and I finally got the reviewer for Exam M. Gary lent me their copy. Remember I blogged here last year that I will take the exam. Well, I wasn’t able to study so I didn’t enroll for the exam. This year I’m hoping na sipagin akong mag-aral.

Ooooh! Karen, I got your pasalubong yesterday. Salamatski!!! Mwah mwah!
*One of the few things Joel told us. Sobrang laughtrip nito!

PENny eating PENpals at Manila PEN

We celebrated Penny's birthday by having dinner at Bed Space at Greenbelt 3. They have good food. It was so much fun eating there because of the couch/bed setting...so cozy. Yun nga lang the homey feel is taken away by the loud sound system. I guess it's more of a bar than a laid-back king of resto. It's fun taking pictures there coz of the setting nga. Yun nga lang because we're so busy taking pictures and because of the loud music (we wanted to get out of there as soon as we were done eating) nakalimutan namin hingin yung dessert namin! Kaasar lang dahil when we asked for our bill di man lang kami ni-remind that we still have dessert. Bad trip! We ordered kasi yung set meal nila that has appetizer, entree and dessert. Sayang talaga. Lugi kami!

Ayun dahil nga nakalimutan namin na we should have had dessert, we went to Manila Pen to have ice cream. Penny and I both felt very sleepy while we were at Manila Pen.

Basta I remembered Jose being so talkative that night.

That was one week after our Davao trip pero super chika galore pa rin :) Happy birthday Penny! Tumatanda na tayo hahaha

Happy Thought

Because I made some major booboo here at the office and found out about it early this morning, I need to think of happy thoughts to make it through the day. So with this I am blogging about my Friday gimik at Bonifacio High Street. It was in celebration of Jose's and my birthday. We had dinner at Heaven 'n Eggs Market! Market! I ordered my favorite Minute steak with scrambled eggs, french fries and pancakes. Jose gave out his pasalubong from China. I wasn't able to take a picture of it but it's a very pretty trinkets holder.

We then proceeded to Serendra Piazza and took some group pictures kahit na mukha kaming mga DH don na nagpipicture taking on our day off. Actually buti na lang may nauna sa min na nagpipicture taking kaya di na kami nahiya.

We then walked to Bonifacio High Street. Krispy Kremes had a long line but we didn't care coz we were going to have our dessert at Cupcakes. We went inside Hobbes and wanted to see how Scene It: Friends was but the saleslady didn't let us. Afterwards, we went to our "secret garden" and took lots of pictures

After our tiring pictorial session we went to Cupcakes by Sonja and Jose bought us our cupcakes. I love their Berries and Cream :) I wanted to have a picture while eating it but lo and behold while I was posing with my cupcake the whipped cream fell to the ground :( Good thing Jose ordered 3 Berries and Cream hehe

All full and satisfied for the night
