Hundred Islands April 29-30, 2006

It's been a week since my trip to Hundred Islands at Alaminos, Pangasinan. The original plan was everyone will sleep at our house so that all of us can leave early Saturday morning and catch the first bus ride to Alaminos. But Sharon had a family dinner to go to on Friday night so she didn't sleep at our place. Cristina and I went home together coz we're both coming from Ortigas. We met up at Robinson's Galleria coz I had some grocery shopping to do for our supplies for the outing...vodka, Sprite, chips, cookies, bread and tuna(for our tuna sandwich as our breakfast for the next day - which Reyna calls 'clubhouse sandwich'). We reached home earlier than Reyna because she came from Makati and she left a little late na rin. It was about 11pm when she arrived. We rested for a while then decided to take a bath since we initially planned to sleep before our trip. But since it was a bit late and we might not wake up in time, we decided instead not to sleep anymore. We were contacting Sheryl to tell her that she doesn't have to come over and we'll pass by her house the next morning but she wasn't answering our calls or replying to our text messages. She called Reyna before 2am and she was at another gimik, told us that we'll meet up at Dagupan Bus Line. So we left the house at 3am expecting to get a ride 4am at the latest since the idiot I talked to over the phone told me that Dagupan Bus Line has an hourly trip 24/7 to Alaminos, Pangasina. We got there at 330am but there was no bus in sight. Grrrr!!! Sharon and Sheryl arrived and there was still no bus. We transferred to Victory Liner at around 430am because their first trip was 430am. Too bad we weren't able to make it for their earliest trip. But that's ok since we got tickets for their 530am trip.

We were all asleep throughout the more-than-7-hour bus ride going to Alaminos. We arrived at Alaminos at around 12noon. We ate at the Mcdonald's near the bus station before we proceeded to the Hundred Islands Resort Hotel. But I think our hotel wasn't known to the tricycle drivers there because when we said Hundred Islands Resort we were led to the dock were there are boats that can take us to the Islands. Fortunately, there was a manong there who showed us where the hotel was. We changed in our swimsuits and rested for a while before we left for the islands.

We left the hotel before 3pm and proceeded to the dock with our boatman, Mang Rudy. We rented snorkeling gears because we thought we can snorkel in one
of the islands. The ride from the dock to the islands is around 30mins. Apparently, there are only 3 islands that are open to the public. The Governor's Island, Children's Island and Quezon Island. We first went to Governor's Island. There's a P20 entrance fee per head but this will allow you entry to all of the islands already, just keep the receipt. While we're paying for the entrance fee we were joking with the locals why it was named Governor's Island. We joked if the governor was there but they answered seriously that their mayor was there at the island...Mayor Nani Braganza hahaha. They told us to go up the view deck because there you can have a spectacular view of the Hundred Islands. You have to take 123 steps up the mountain to reach the veiw deck. And manong was right, the view was spectacular. Although we were a bit tired and sweaty when we got there, it was worth it. It was breathtaking!

Look at that view

We're the queens of the world!!!

At the view deck, we saw a beach on one of the islands. We later found out that it was called Virgin Island. We weren't able to go there since Mang Rudy told us that the sand was rough on that island. We went to Romulo Island instead. According to Mang Rudy, this was the island were Marina was shot. Cool huh? I felt like a mermaid when we swam there haha!

Pwede na bang cover girls ng FHM? hahaha

After Romulo, we went to Quezon Island. But before we went there we passed by Children's Island, Marcos Island (which mang Rudy told us was renamed Rated K Island because Korina Sanchezshot one of her episodes there) and Papaya Island. Marcos and Papaya Islands are not open to public, that is, there are no huts to stay in but the tourists can put up tents of their own and stay overnight. When we got to Quezon Island, Mang Rudy left us there coz he has another group that he has to fetch and return to the dock. But that's entirely okay with us. Quezon island was connected to another island with a bridge. And guess what that island was called...Rated K island. So Marcos and Rated K island were two different islands. Mang Rudy was pulling our legs all the while haha. Since Mang Rudy left us at the island he came back a little bit late. But that was okay since we were able to witness the sunset at Quezon Island.

Papaya Island at our background. Yukong yuko kami ni Shawie di naman pala nakazoom sa min.

Huwaw!

We were so hungry when we got back so we went to the resto near our hotel. But they were so busy with their guests from Baguio that they didn't even bother to get our orders. Hmp! It's their loss not ours! So we just went to eat at a carinderia in the small shopping area near the dock. The food was cheaper and the service was excellent.

We were spent for the day. When we got to the hotel and after we all took a bath, we were all tired we were only able to drink a glass each of Reyna's concoction of Sprite and vodka. Too bad we weren't able to stay up that late since the topic of conversation was platonic relationship - does it really exist? I won't make kwento about that because I think that topic is worthy of another separate post. Anyway, all of us were already asleep by 1am. We woke up pretty late the next day so we weren't able to go back to the islands. Hundred Islands is worthy of a three-day, two-night trip. There were a lot of islands that we weren't able to go to. And you can stay in an island for one whole day if you want. We were just at the islands for a few hours. Oh well, I can always go back. To Sharon, Sheryl, Cristina and Reyna, it was one helluva vacation! Lots of things were revealed. Heck! I thought I was spared of all that revelation but no, even if we're at the bus going home already Reyna had to ask that crucial question hehe. Hopefully, we'll be able to do this again next year. With all our schedules, it's really hard to make plans. Sana it's just like in college when it was easy to plan a trip. Those were the days...Kakamiss din mga kabaliwan nyo. One last evidence kung gano tayo kabaliw...
