despedida....books, books, books
The other day we had our despedida for our Director, Mr. Burston. He's going to be transferred to another department. It was a simple after-office gathering. The idea was to remind him of his first Christmas party with BPCB. That was way back 2001. They wore pirate costumes, red shirt with bandanna on their heads and sang and danced their own version of "Footloose" with Mr. Burston reenacting the lines of the song and sang a few lines solo! So when he entered the room during the despedida they played the video clip of that presentation and we all sang along with the video (well, they sang along hehehe), all of us were also wearing bandannas like the ones they used in their Christmas presentation. We were having a ball watching the video clip. And the part were Mr. Burston sang a few lines was in slow motion at inulit ulit pa ala 'Stop me!' segment of the The Buzz. Funny sobra! He was so red while watching it. Picture taking after that then we had dinner. We had KFC fried chicken, San Juanito's pansit, siomai and shrimp kebab. For desert, we had chocolate and potato almond cake. Ang sarap! After eating, Ms. Aggie presented Mr. Burston's "PDP" as evaluated by BPCB staff and his supervisor. At first I thought what a boring way to say goodbye to someone but it turned out to be really funny. The comments Ms. Aggie made were pretty hilarious and of course we can all relate because all of us had just our performance evaluation. After that we sang "In My Life" for him then bye-bye na. Ay! They also gave him a present pala...a framed picture of him imposed in a 'Footloose' movie poster. Cute!
After the despedida, I met with Joema in Powerbooks. He was looking forward to buying the book about warfare that he saw the last time he was there. Well, he was disappointed since no new stock was available. Gula-gulanit na yung copy na nasa shelf. Too bad! But we bought three books instead..Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun and Freud's Women. I got to take home Freud's Women because I chose that one. I started reading it...it was all about the women in Freud's life...family members, patients and colleagues that influenced his theory on psychoanalysis. First few pages palang ang nababasa ko but I think this will be an interesting read hmmmm.... Anyway, we also got out Powerbooks card. Well, we still have to wait for one to two weeks for the card but we already availed of the 5% discount for cardholders (10% for cash purchases). Can't wait to read the book...tamang tama pagdating ng Holy Week yun ang aatupagin ko. I can't remember the last time I read a book. Pumupurol na nga ata ang utak ko. I don't have any more exams to study for, sa work naman medyo routine ang ginagawa. I need to read more..aside from the weekly Time magazine that I read...di ko pa yon nababasa from cover to cover. Shucks! Kakahiya!

Monday Madness
Got this questions from Monday Madness. I'll try to do this every Monday.
1. Do you use a bag/sachel/wallet? I use a bag/sachel
2. Do you use the same bag/sachel/wallet everyday or change depending on your outfit? I change my bag depending on my outfit or sometimes pag tamad every week lang nagpapalit so minsan one week na puro shade of pink or shade of brown ang suot ko haha.
3. What do you carry in your bag/sachel/wallet? My cellphone, wallet, coin purse, checkbook, umbrella(folding), tissue, hand sanitizer, keys.
4. Do you check and change the contents of your bag/sachel/wallet before you go anywhere specific or do you take everything everywhere? Yes I change the contents of my bag depending on where I'm going and what bag I'm using.
5. How often do you have a good clean out of your bag/sachel/wallet? Hehehe depende.

I'm more scared on the thought of experiencing the whole thing than losing my valuables. Sana wag mangyari sa kin yon.

Cheating
Have you ever cheated on your partner? Have you ever had a partner who cheated on you?
What if your partner found someone he loves more than he loves you. Yung tipong hindi naman nya binalak. Nagkataon lang na he found himself falling in love with this girl. And he's not just after the sex ha...he truly fell in love. And when he was sure about his feelings he told you honestly and broke up with you. What would you do? I have a friend na naka-experience nito. He wasn't the one who was left behind. He was the one who left his girlfriend for someone else. Well, technically he did not cheat because nothing happened between him and the girl while he was still committed. I'm never one to condone cheaters pero after hearing his side of the story.. I realized that it could happen to anyone. Of course I'd get hurt but would I want someone to stick with me dahil lang ang tagal na namin and not because he loves me. Don't get me wrong nothing close to this is happening to me and Joema. I'm just thinking of the possibility. Kasi sila Zanjoe at Bianca e hahaha. Yun lang pala dahilan. I told you I'm hooked to Zanjoe!
I don't see her actions as cheating on her boyfriend. Ewan ko if I'm just blind dahil kilig ako kay Zanjoe pero kasi living inside the house is very different from the outside world. Iba yung environment. You are living with other people 24/7 and you have no other way of entertaining yourself but talking to these complete strangers. Operative word: proximity! And also, you don't have your usual support group like your friends and family. So it's really possible to be close to someone for such a short period of time. Tapos Bianca admitted that she has a crush on Zanjoe two years ago when she saw him in a print ad. You can't help but think that this is destiny working. Di ba that's such a romantic thought. You saw him two years ago then dun pa kayo magkakakilala. Also, she was having problems with her current bf. And maybe she found with Zanjoe what's lacking with the relationship with her current. Argh! Pero hats off to Zanjoe for being the perfect gentleman. Kahit papano may respeto pa rin sya with Bianca's bf although he's not really doing anything para lumayo kay Bianca. If I were Bianca, after leaving the house, I'd break up with my current bf. Not because I "cheated" but because I had some doubts regarding my love for him. This is assuming that he still wants to be with me after watching all those things. But I wouldn't go and have a relationship with Zanjoe either. I'd think my feelings through...what really happened inside the house. Syempre only Bianca knows what's really happening. Is she really falling for Zanjoe or she's just longing for his current bf and using Zanjoe as proxy? Kasi kahit na hindi nila sabihin I think Bianca and Zanjoe both feel that they have feelings for each other. Paglabas ng bahay they have to think if they want to act on this feelings. Grabedad! Such a sticky situation! I wouldn't want to be in Bianca's place right now...or would I? hahaha si Zanjoe yon e!
Hay naku! I just hope and pray na wag mangyari sa min yan. Na sana we'll keep each other contented para we won't find reasons to look for other people to make us happy.

Puerto Galera 3
Okay, I promise this will be my last post regarding my Puerto Galera trip. :) I'll just continue my story where I left off. Because of the rain, Penny, Steve and Charline decided to go back to our room and take their baths (syempre di sabay-sabay) so that we can eat afterwards. Nag-stay pa kami nila Janice and Mands. While swimming we saw some Koreans na nag-rent ng flyfish. It's a new water sport and di pa rin alam nila Janice and Mands how it goes kaya pinanood namin yung Koreans. Parang lumilipad lang yung flyfish..thus the name. Isip namin di sya nakakapagod like the banana boat...or so we thought.
Di na din kami nagtagal sa water. Umahon na rin kami para maligo kasi napag-usapan na na after ligo magpapa-henna tattoo kami then dinner.
Look at my tattoo. Ok ba? I really wanted to get a tattoo at my lower back. Yung real tattoo ha. Pero not that big like that one. Small lang tas heart din. Like Rachel in Friends. Yung henna tatto we had to wait for two hours para matuyo sya. After two hours pwede na i-scrape yung henna and voila...may tattoo na kami! Steve got a dragon in his arm na he later on named as Puffy hehe, Janice had a dolphin on her right shoulder, Mands got a yin-yang on his forearm, Penny got a butterfly on her batok (not in picture), and si Charline got two butterflies one on her shoulder and one on her lower back.
Here we are enjoying our Mindoro Sling. After dinner nagkawalaan pa kami sa beach hahaha. Kasi naman Steve, Charline and I went back to our room tas the other three went to the beach to lie down. Pagkagising we went straight to the beach to swim. Another pic of me with my tattoo. Pinagkatuwaan nila ko kaya ganyan pa yung pose ko.
Our just-out-of-the-bed look!
When we saw our water sports agent, Michael (hahaha I just call him our agent kasi sya yung manong na nag-alok sa min ng boat at banana boat ride), we asked him kung pwede na kami mag-flyfish. We told the others what we saw the day before so excited na rin sila. So picture picture muna while waiting.
Obvious bang walang magawa sa oras. Pati yung tractor pinagtrip-an hehehe
Okay finally sumakay na kami sa flyfish! Look at our happy faces. All of us excited for the ride.
Tanong kami kung bumabaligtad din ba yon like the banana boat. Hindi naman daw pero once na may bumitaw sa magkabilang gilid (read: me, Charline, Steve or Mands) dapat bitiw na lahat dahil ma-imbalance na yung flyfish. So ang motto namin for that moment: WALANG BIBITAW! Sabi ko pa engot ang bibitaw ha. Naisip ko during the ride na sana di ko na lang sinabi yon.
One last wave for the cameras.
OMG! Hayup na water sports yan! Look at that flyfish! Can you imagine how we were holding on to that f*cking flyfish! Grabedad! Sigawan kami ng sigawan. Wala maglakas ng loob bumitaw dahil ang bilis ng takbo and for sure ang sakit sa katawan pagbagsak sa tubig. Ako naman I was also thinking na ayoko maging engot (because of what I said previously hahahaha). Nakakapagod kumapit ha! As in! Hay naku nakakatawa kami! Si Steve who was behind me nagrereklamo na na ang bigat daw ng pwet ko. Pano naman nags-slide down ako sa kanya so yung butt ko nasa may kamay na nya hahaha. Can you just imagine! So for the next 3 tries nilalagay na nya yung kamay nya sa waist ko. Kaloka talaga! We were trying real hard to hold on tas sumisigaw pa tas tawanan pa kami sa comments ng isa't isa! Hahahaha. No wonder we were so tired after! The P300 we paid for it was all worth it (pinaka-luxury item na namin yan dahil mas mahal pa sa tirahan namin at sa kinain namin). Kakaibang experience yon! Super enjoy talaga! For me, aside from it's the most expensive item we paid for, it was the highlight of the trip!
Gaya nung nagbanana boat kami super gutom din kami after. So we had our breakfast na. Tapos non liguan na ulit at pasalubong shopping na. Ang mura talaga ng bilihin don. Biruin mo the shirts were only for P85-P90. May libre pang anklet. I bought 2 shirts for myself, one for Joema and board shorts for him also. I also bought kikay earrings and necklace/bracelet beads. Look at me, Janice and Penny donning our Puerto Galera shirts for our trip back home. Di na nakapag-intay!
I really enjoyed our trip! Goodbye Galera! I'll see you soon! hehehe. And to Janice, Mands, Penny, Charline and Steve: the best talaga kayo! I wouldn't have enjoyed the trip that much if I didn't go there with you guys. Sabi ko nga kasi the beach was not that spectacular kaya sa water activities talaga enjoy. And dahil super game kayo lahat talagang super enjoy din naman! Till our next outing!

Puerto Galera 2
Okay, I’ll continue my story…after eating tuna sandwich for lunch we immediately changed into our swimsuits. We decided to snorkel first then try the banana boat ride. It was my first time to try both so I was really excited.
Photo op at the veranda of our room before we go snorkeling.
While waiting for our boat to arrive. We rented the boat for P1000. Pwede na dahil 6 naman kaming maghahati-hati.
Getting ready to snorkel. O di ba matching pa yung kinuha kong gear chaka yung swimsuit ko. Yan ang napapala ko e. Nagkaproblema tuloy ako while snorkeling na. Buti na lang Steve was there, very patient teaching me on how to fix my mask and how to breathe on that thingy. Sorry don’t know what it’s called. Snorkeling virgin nga e! But when I got the hang of it I finally enjoyed it! We rented smaller boats so that we can go around the beach. Sabi nila did aw ganon ka-colorful but I enjoyed it. Kakatuwa! Siguro super exciting mag-diving. Kung hindi lang ganon kamahal e I’ll definitely try that! After snorkeling for about 2 hours we headed back to White Beach. Banana boat ride here we come! We were all excited. Almost all of us, except for Penny and Janice, have not yet tried the banana boat ride. Sabi ni Penny dun sa manong who was at the motor boat na 2 tumba lang daw. Pero 4 times ata kaming tumaob. Grabe, ang sakit pala sa katawan non. After the ride, I joked that I think I need to go to the hospital to check if my internal organs are still in place hehehe. Riot talaga! I’m the one in the orange vest. O di ba standout talaga!
This(top) is after nung unang beses na taob namin. Look how happy we are!
Naks! Mga professional banana boat rider ba!
After that tiring water sports, gutom kami lahat! We ate at Peter’s Inn and ordered sinugba and fruit shakes (below).
(Below)Mga feeling beach babes! Breathe in girls!
(Below)Eto ang mas lalong feeling hahaha. Pagbigyan na blog ko naman 'to.

Puerto Galera March 11-12, 2006
I think I still have a hangover from my trip to Puerto Galera last weekend. I was sick yesterday dahil sa sobrang pagod.
Anyway, we agreed to take the 6am bus ride at JAM Transit, Buendia station to Batangas Pier. I picked up Penny at around 515 am and we arrived at the bus station around 545. Steve and Charline we're already there when we arrived. Si Mands at Janice wala pa! Tsk, tsk. Basta mapuno umaalis na agad yung bus so we waited for Mands and Janice na lang. That's Janice, me and Steve(left) on the bus going to Batangas Pier. Janice had to ask the lady in front of us kung Batangas Pier na. Kasi may isang stop don na madaming bumaba kaya akala namin don na. Yun pala last stop yung pier.
(Right) Steve, Mands, me, Charline and Janice at the Batangas Pier waiting to board "pascrap". Ahahahaha. Pero during the movie all of us actually enjoyed the movie ha. Lalo tuloy kaming nahilo. Argh! Chaka dapat di nila sinasabing 45 mins yung trip dahil more than an hour noh. Siguro we arrived at White Beach a few minutes before 12noon. So lipat kami sa Delgado's resort, yung katabi. Buti na lang we got a room there for only P1200, fan room nga lang pero mahangin naman yung room e. Tapos kasya pa kaming anim andno extra cost for the extra bed. Penny, Charline, me and Janice(below) posing in our super murang room. After settling down, we ate Mand's baon na tuna sandwich. Good thing he brought some food 'coz that served as our lunch(or so we thought, later na lang in my story). Yummy!

Coffee
I wanna share something Abbie emailed me..
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups. Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and
position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
So, don't let the cups drive you... enjoy the coffee instead.

International Women's Day
Happy Women's Day to every women out there! (as if may nagbabasa ng blog ko...but if there is someone this greeting goes to you..if you are a woman :) )
We celebrated the International Women's Day here at the office with a breakfast and a small program with keynote speech from Ms. Linda Wirth, ILO Regional Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Well, I really went there beacuse of the free breakfast hehehehe. What a lame reason noh! But I was really inspired by the speech of Ms. Wirth. She was the author of a book with the same title. But this publication is just an update of that book. Her speech was titled 'Glass ceiling...Glass wall..Glass cliff'.
She defined the glass ceiling as a scenario where women who are senior executives, who can see what's going on at the top but can't really go to the top management...as if there is a glass ceiling preventing them from being in the top management. Cool huh! Glass wall is where there are women executives but only for some departments. She mentioned Personnel Department as an example. Most managers of Personnel Departments in different organizations are headed by women. A glass cliff is where a woman is given the position to head a company that is doomed to fail. Di ba kawawa naman tayong mga babae? We're not given the same opportunities as men. The speaker said kanina na it happens in organizations all over the world even in UN. She talked about why women are not chosen as leader of UN. They say because there are no qualified women to hold the job, while women say they are not given the opportunity to get the experience to be qualified for the job. So she said that it should really start real early in the career. That women should be given jobs that can prepare them, us, for top management work.
I remembered her mentioning that men leaders are linear, while women are emotional. We tend to focus on details while men see the big picture. She said that a good leader should possess both qualities. Leaders should base their decisions on facts but should also be intuitive. Kumbaga a combination of both the best qualities of men and women.
I was just inspired kanina. Women does not necessarily need to step back for men just because we need to take care of our family. Women are actually amazing especially those with careers and have family. But that doesn't mean women who only have their careers are anything less than special. Naisip ko lang, if there are women who wants to succeed in their respective careers and doesn't want to have a family then let them be. That's their choice, that's what they want.
Makes me think tuloy what I really want to pursue for my career....hhmmmm.... Dati kasi after I graduated I applied in different jobs. When I was accepted in an life insurance company I decided I wanted to be an actuary. Kaso I got tired of all the f*cking exams! hahaha palibhasa kasi di ko maipasa ang course 3. =D

Tong, tong, tong, tong pakitong-kitong
Two fridays ago Charline treated us in red crab at gb3. Blowout nya for passing the final hurdle to being FASP. Hanggang 9pm lang daw yung buffet. Since Penny, JP and I are coming from Ortigas they picked me up at aroung 630. Kala namin we'll have enough travel time and kain time. Argh! As usual traffic! We arrived at around 8pm already. But of course we had a contingency plan. While we were looking for a parking slot we already called Jose to get us some food hehehe. Sayang yung buffet noh! Kaya when we got to the resto lafang na agad. Crab, crab and more crab! Yummy! Saya-saya! We got to meet the newbies sa office nila. although not enough time to mingle with them.
Penny, me and Jose enjoying our dinner. Wala sa pictures ang nag-blowout.
Ex-financials...Penny, me, and, no that't not Jose :p, Steve!
Past 11 na ata kami umalis sa resto. Thanks to someone who's super bagal kumain hahaha. After dinner we went to starbucks..me, Penny, Steve, Charline and JP. They drank coffee and I listened to their kwento. kwento tungkol sa buhay-buhay, lovelife and whatnot. Charline and Steve were having some love problems. I missed hanging out with them. Ako na ang youngest and all of them are married. Kaya ang gimik nila couples gimik. Unlike before na puro kami yuppies kaya I really enjoy it pag gumigimik with my former officemates.
