Why the world needs Superman

WARNING: Superman Returns spoilers to follow, do not read this post if you haven't seen the movie.

I'm not capable of making paragraphs for this posts so I'll just list the things I want to say about the movie.

  • Clark Kent is cute but Superman is oh-so-dreamy. Haaayyy...Can't stop thinking about him even when I got home. I also can't stop saying 'haaay...ang gwapo' at the cinema...even if I watched the movie with Joema hahaha. Words are not enough to describe how gorgeous Brandon Routh is. You just have to watch the movie. I heart Brand Routh. I heart Clark Kent. I heart Superman.
  • Stupid people can't even tell Clark Kent and Superman apart. Must be that thing that he does with his hair when he's Superman. That portion of his bangs that he twirls hahaha Jason knew right away that Clark and Superman is the same person when he saw Superman on TV while Clark was there. Stupid people!
  • That scene with the bullet hitting Superman in the eye is super cool. Very cool. Superb special effects! The one where Clark is running and jumping on the corn field, the one where Superman saved the airplane, the one where Lois was touching the water when she was flying with him, every single scene with Superman flying.
  • I think it was also pretty cool that Manila was mentioned in one of the news when Superman was again all over the world helping people.
  • Lois Lane has some sort of super strength too ha! The scene when she was at the airplane she was thrown all over the place, bumping her head everywhere but she was a-OK when the plane landed. Sabagay, ikaw ba naman titigan ni Superman ng ganon at tanungin ka if you're okay e mapapa-tango ka na nga lang. And she's so accident prone talaga! When they were trying to get out of the ship, she knocked herself out when the pantry door bumped her head. But as soon as the plane took off she's good as new again. Nakakahawa ata ang powers ni Superman.
  • Okay I can accept that little Jason is Superman's son pero di ko matanggap na may nangyari kina Superman at Lois. HHHIINNNNDEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Of course they have to have sex first before making a baby but I just cant bring myself to accept that they had sex! I can't picture it. In denial ang lola nyo! But just a thought: what if Superman used condom for protection but since he has superstrength so does his sperm, they made their way through that plastic shield and went straight to Lois' egg. hahaha. WTF am I thinking?!?!?!
  • Does Richard know that he isn't the father of Jason? Because if he thinks he is the father then there's your inconsistency there. From the story, Richard came into Lois' life after Superman has gone. So if Superman got Lois' pregnant and Richard thinks he is the father then Richard should have met Lois while she was still seeing Superman. That two-timing bitch! hahahaha. Or maybe Lois wasn't pregnant for 9months, maybe Krypton babies take longer to be born (that's Joema's theory). I still think it's an inconsistency. If not for that piano-thing that Jason did I'll think Lois was lying. hahaha
  • Superman was weak when he was standing on that island made from crystal and Kryptonite. He was beaten to death by Lex and his men. He was so weak he didn't have the energy to fight back when Lex stabbed him with a Kryptonite. But he had no problem carrying that big island out into space even if there were Kryptonites almost sticking out into his chest. What the hell was that?!?! Inconsistent ang powers ni Superman ha!
  • I love Superman's suit. I'm pretty sure Brandon Routh was comfortable wearing that. And I, too, am comfortable watching him in it *ogling*
  • The movie is screaming for a part 2. I hope they get to sign up the same actors.
  • I will watch this movie again. I will! I will! I will! (without the noisy girl beside us and the kicking boy behind us)

And why does the world need Superman....coz he's so cute and he's super! =P

Monday Madness - Photography

1. Do you own a digital camera? Yep, just bought one.
2. What is your camera of choice? Point and shoot camera
3. If you're a digital camera fan, do you print your own photos, or do you send them in to be printed? If you send them in, do you have a favorite place? I do want them to get printed but I can't find the time to sort through the pictures and have them printed. But if I do get them printed, I'll probably send them in Island Photo since we get 10% discount there.
4. How many pictures do you take a month? It will probably depend on where I'm going, if I'm going out of town or something. Which reminds me I'll be out again this weekend. I'm going to Puerto Princesa.
5. How many of those pictures actually get printed? None hahaha
6. Are you planning on purchasing a new camera in the near future? Not in the near future hehe
7. CHALLENGE: Go check out Favorite Five Photos and Foto Pherrets and choose just ONE photo to share. For Favorite Five Photos - since I've posted most of my pictures from Singapore, I don't want to post them again here. So just browse through my Singapore posts and you'll see some of my fave pics for June. For Foto Pherrets (statue), I will have to choose the Merlion at Sentosa (this is kind of cheating coz I didn't take this picture hehehe).

Digital camera

As I am not yet done with my Singapore stories, I haven't bragged about my new digicam. I am now the proud owner of a Sony Cybershot T5.

Got it for SGD499.00 less the GST (SGD19.50). Whoppeee!!! So that's less than P16,000 for a digicam with free case, 512MB memory card, a small tripod and international warranty. I'm so happy with this latest purchase of mine. I've been pondering on getting my own digicam since early this year (kasi naman lahat ata ng tao may digicam na). I wanted to ask Grace to buy for me a Nokia Coolpix at HK but something more important came in the way. When I went to Singapore I wasn't really planning on buying a digicam coz I thought I don't really need it. But when we got there and they showed me the catalogue of Sony and compared it with the prices here at Manila (Sony is also sale here, this model is for sale for P21,000 if I remember it right) I was convinced I had to buy one for myself. Never mind if it's the only thing I bought from the Great Singapore Sale for myself. Sayang lang I wasn't able to use it while we're at Singapore coz we bought it on our last night there (kasi nga I really had to think about it). Inabot na kami ng closing ng Funan Mall. We were looking for a really good deal kasi. Sony only offered the case and the memory card as freebies so we went to other stores but they offered the same. Then we went to Harvey Norman (where David bought their digicam) but they only had Cybershot T9, that's way over my budget so we went back to Sony. When we got to Sony we asked the person there what's better T5 of W50 (I was choosing between the two models) and we were told t5 was better. David asked again what are the freebies, the guy said case and memory card. Buti na lang David asked if there were no other freebies, the sales person went inside their small office when he got back he told is he'll throw in the tripod too. Funny pa when he asked what color I like:

Singaporean Dude: What color?
Cris: What are the avaibable colors:
Singaporean: Silver, gold, and breck are the only colors.
Cris: Okay red (as I thought I heard) *he went inside their supplies room then went out again*
Singaporean: There's no more red
Cris: So what are the colors? *I know, I'm kulit*
Singaporen: Silver, gold, and breck
Cris: *breck? siguro color ng brick yon so red pa rin...pwede na! then I remembered from the brochure the fourth color: b-l-a-c-k* okay black

Sus nagkaintindihan din. When we were telling the story to Jo, David and I were thinking of the same thing pala - breck as in color ng brick hahahaha

Will post pics soon from my digicam ;)

Twenysomething

Was reading this blog and I saw a post about quarter-life crisis which she got from Wikipedia. I think I'm actually expriencing this.

Exerpts from the article in Wikipedia...

The quarter-life crisis is a term, coined circa November 1965 in Toronto, by psychologist Elliott Jaques, applied to the period of life immediately following the major changes of adolescence, usually ranging from the ages of 21 - 29. The term is named by analogy with mid-life crisis.

Characteristics of this crisis are:

confusion of identity (nope)
insecurity regarding the near future (guilty!)
insecurity regarding present accomplishments (guilty!)
re-evaluation of close interpersonal relationships (hehe guilty!)
disappointment with one's job (guiilty!)
nostalgia for college life (guilty!)
tendency to hold stronger opinions (about others? haha)
boredom with social interactions (di naman)
financially-rooted stress (guilty!)
loneliness (not so)

That's 6 out of 10! :( Atleast I can say that I'm not the only one going through this since they coined a term for it...meaning there are other people who feels the same way.

Right now I feel like I'm in an intersection waiting for the red light to go green. But would I take the left or right turn or go straight. Any which way will do for me. If the left turn light goes green first, I'll go there. If the right turn goes green first, that's ok too. Or I can just move on following the road ahead of me. But the light has to turn green first.

June 22nd

Happy 52nd Birthday, Papa! I wouldn't be what I am today if it weren't for you. Thanks for everything you've done for me and Jay and Mama. I know I don't tell you this as often but I love you. I wish you a stress-free day today. Stay healthy.

Singapore zoo

On our third day at Singapore we went to the Singapore zoo.

Right at the entrance we saw this monkey being fed by a zoo personnel. Shy sa camera hehehe but see that picture beside him, that's him!

We watched the feeding of tapir...

white tiger...

pygmy hippo...

and orang utans. You can pay SGD5.00 to have your picture with the orang utans taken by a professional photographer...

..but we were so near them we didn't need to shell out 5bucks.

They had an elephant show...

...before the feeding. Those people behind me paid SGD5.00 for the fruit basket that will be fed to the elephants. That way they can feed the elephants themselves.

We went to their Australian Outback and was able to touch a kangaroo.

I was so amused by their rest station -- aircon itu! -- we had to stop and take a picture and also to rest :)

Aside from hamadryas baboon (their butts are so red...the redder their butt the hotter they get hahaha! The red butts signify that their ready to mate. The one with the most "maga" butt is the leader of the community) ...

we saw different kinds monkeys at the Primate Kingdom...

At the Reptile Garden there were crocodiles three times bigger than me..

The reticulated python is so huge and long...walang panama yung anaconda nila.

The komodo dragon can eat an entire cow . Sayang we weren't able to see the feeding. Pero siguro naman hindi baka ang pinapakin sa kanya don..kakatakot!

The giant tortoise is not moving. Or was it moving, but so slow that we can't see it? =P

The jaguar is sleeping. The difference between a jaguar and a leopard is that the spots of the jaguar has spots inside them. Spots inside the spots.

At Wild Africa, there was the giraffe (can you see him behind us?)...

...zebras...

...cheetah...

...and the lion king behind us (can you see him?)

Polar bears are so huge. Look at me compared to them...

They have two polar bears at the zoo. One was walking around while the other one is resting. Sila Tamad at Masipag ahehehe

Th sunbear's back was itching he's using the log to scratch his back...so cute!

The camel was smelly. Maybe that's why Abi isn't smiling in this picture.

That's a rhinocerus..can't see his horn hidden from the plants. He was eating then.

There were a lot of other animals at the Singapore zoo. My blog will take longer to load if I post them all here so click here for all the pics. Eventhough we walked for 4 hours to see all the animals I enjoyed every minute of it. See from the pics that my smile didn't falter haha.

The Lake House

Watched The Lake House last night with Joema, Sharon and Kae. Sharon and Kae were telling me that Sheryl's officemates didn't like the movie since it was like Moments of Love. I didn't watch that movie but I'm pretty sure na hindi ginaya ng Lake House yung Moments of Love hahaha. Another movie with the same theme is Sky of Love with Ken Zhu and Gigi Leung. But in Sky of Love there was no love angle between Ken and Gigi. Ken's parents actually wouldn't get together if Gigi didn't give way to his mother. Gigi and his mother were friends in the past. His father was actually smitten by Gigi first but because Ken told Gigi about his parents, Gigi didn't entertain his father anymore.

Anyways during the movie, I was desperately hoping for a happy ending. And I'm glad I wasn't disappointed. Don't get me wrong I'm okay with tragic endings (I loved City of Angels) but for this movie both of them would have been so broken hearted if they didn't end up together (Okay, I would have been broken hearted). Alex Wyler, Keannu's character, waited for Kate (Sandra Bullock) for four years, he almost ended up dead in the arms of Sandra for Pete's sake. Right from the start we knew it was him at the accident but I was hoping against hope that it wouldn't be him. But it turned out to be really him, good thing they have that mailbox at the lake house. Although the story is a bit impossible to happen I liked the movie. I liked the way how they fell in love with each other merely by writing letters. I think the thing with letter writing is that you tend to be yourself and express your innermost thoughts. It started out with Kate's letter telling Alex about the lake house, the paw prints and the box at the attic. They started to correspond and through their letters they began to know more about each other. I liked it that at the start their conversations were casual, even joking that they were already married and had kids with somebody. I loved it that they were able to share something with the other even through their letters -- Alex shared to Kate his love for architecture through that walk, he told her about his father who's also an architect, Kate telling Alex about her work, about the place she lives in. I loved it how Alex shows how much he cares for Kate eventhough they're two years apart from each other -- when he went to her birthday party, when he got the book at the train station, when he planted the tree at her apartment. I loved it each time Kate realizes it was Alex she has encountered in her past - she only remembers Alex in the present on the same date that they met in the past, like on her birthday and on Valentine's Day. My to do after watching the movie: read Persuasion by Jane Austen.

Toothache

I went to our dentist here at the office coz my wisdom tooth is aching. I thought my wisdom tooth is coming out (haha tanda kong 'to!). When the dentist got a look down my mouth, he told me that the impacted lower molar (it's not really out of my gums yet, and it wouldn't come out) is being hit by my upper molar when I bite. The gums are all red and he applied some medicine on it so that the wounds will heal. But he told me that this will hurt again as the medicine is just temporary. The upper molar will continue to hit my gums. To solve the problem he has to extract either the upper molar, which is cheaper at 3thou-4thou, or the lower molar the impacted one which would cost me around 6thou-8thou. Holy Shet! 3thou bucks for a tooth that I didn't even want! Now I don't feel the pain anym0re because of the medicine. Do I really have to shell out 3thou for my tooth? :( Isang bakasyon na yung 3thou na yon. But I have to think about if I want the hurting tooth to be gone forever. Maybe I'll have it extracted the next time it hurts hehehe

Monday Madness again

It's been a while since I've done Monday Madness.

1. How many cop shows can you name? Uh, just one -- Cops. Ahehehe I don't know any cop shows.
2. Do you send text messages? Yes, I'm a Globe post-paid subscriber. Pero ngayon I'm thinking of switching to pre-paid again dahil parang mas maganda yung promos nila for pre-paid. Yung unlimitxt nagagamit ko lang pag nagamit ko na lahat ng free texts ko.
3. If you could be on a gameshow (current or old), which one would you be on and why? Kapamilya Deal or No Deal! Hahaha Wala lang just so I can see Kris saying 'Kapamilya Deal or No Deal?' live
4. What are some of your favorite websites? my blog, my friends' blogs, PEX, friendster. yan lang madalas ko puntahan
5. What are your favorite things about the internet? easy way of researching - with just one click you can research about everything
6. What about least favorite? too much freedom of speech for some
7. What are some good ways to deal with a pet loss? (kind of an OT question) get a new one.

Belated Happy Father's Day

I had a hard time connecting to PLDT dial-up yesterday so this one's a late greeting to all fathers, papa, tatay, daddy, dada, papang and whatever you call your father.

We had lunch at Sakesan, Megamall yesterday. My treat to my father (syempre sabit na sila Jay at Mama). But before our lunch right, my sandals got ripped off in the middle of Mega A. Gosh so embarassing! My mom had to buy me new ones (and per my order cheap sandals hahaha I know I'm such a cheapskate sometimes). But I'm happy coz I bought Daisy Duck shirt and khaki pants from Giordano - they were on sale! Anyways, everyone enjoyed their lunch. It's better if we eat at Sakesan than have buffet lunch at Saisaki since di naman namin nasusulit ang buffet and we ordered the same things we would have eaten at Saisaki. After the meal everyone's full and happy.

Belated Happy Father's Day, Papa! I know I'm not the best daughter but I'm really trying to be one. Thanks for everything!

Singapore Day 2

We started our day by hearing mass. Hightech talaga sa Singapore. Aside from a white large screen at the front of the church where the responsorial psalm and mass songs are projected, they have flat screen TVs installed at the church posts (plural talaga ito!). I've been to a parish here in the Philippines where they have TV screens on the right and left sides of the church (count that 1, 2) but that church in Singapore has TV screens at the right and left sides after every 6 pews (so I think they have around 10 TV sets at that church). Para ka lang nanonood ng mass sa TV sa bahay mo pag Sunday haha.

After the mass we went back to the condo to eat our breakfast - tira nung handa sa party hehe pero okay lang coz I love their fried chicken. I told Jo nga that if my friends here at the Philippines asked me if I ate Hainanese chicken at Singapore I will tell them that I ate marinated fried chicken at Jo's place beat that! Then we're off to Mustafa Center to buy our pasalubong. Mustafa Center is a building with 3-4 floors where they sell everthing! As in everything coz you can buy PS2 games, watches, perfumes, clothes, shoes, electronics, grocery items, everything talaga. We had our money changed first syempre before we went shopping. I only bought pasalubong there (just 1 Singapore shirt for me) then we went back to the condo to leave our things and we ate some cake (from the night's party). We still have enough time so we watched TV after eating - TFC channel. Tuloy I was able to watch Gudtaym where Toni imitated Kris Aquino as host of Deal or No Deal, but instead of that title they had Meal or No Meal. Toni is hilarious I tell you. This girl is a natural comedienne. She's able to pull it off as Kris with all her mannerisms, her sqeuaky voice and her model pose while asking Deal or No Deal. To think that they shot the show with a live audience. Funny talaga! Okay, I'm digressing...back to my story.

We rode the MRT going to Harbour Front and then from there Abi, Mel and I will ride the cable car going to Mt. Faber first then to Sentosa. Jo, David and Myrna rode the bus from Harbour front to Sentosa. Mel went with us in the cable car coz she's the only who's already in Singapore who hasn't ridden the cable car to Sentosa. Para din syang turista gaya namin ni Abi. The ride cost us SGD12.90 (that includes admission to Sentosa) and that's from Harbourfront to Mt. Faber to Sentosa then back to Harbourfront. Kaya wala akong kawala kahit na ayoko ng sumakay don pabalik. Gosh! I really hate heights. I remember the time we went to Ilocos and visited Cape Bojeador. We went to the top of the tower -- it was so fucking high! I was crying when we went down. Sobrang nalula talaga ko. Sa cable car naman sa Ocean Park I was holding the railing the entire ride. Sila Penny and Charline where taking pictures while I was so nervous dahil ang taas-taas na namin.

Look cable car # 69. Di naman obvious na takot ako noh. Pero kapit na kapit ako kay Abi jan.

When we finally got to Sentosa, we had to meet up with the other three at Underwater World.

They told us to ride the Blue Line Bus. We went to the queue for the blue line bus waiting for a blue bus to pick us up. But only yellow buses were passing through our bus stop hahaha stupid! They only call it the blue line but the bus are all colored yellow. But before we realized that I told them that we can also ride the Green Line Bus (that's based on the Sentosa map we got at the entrance). So we lined up there since it was a shorter line. When we got there no green buses were arriving and 3 yellow buses where lined up at the Blue Line. Haay...sa blue line bus na yellow ang color din kami sumakay. Hanglabo!

Entrance fee to Underwater World costs SGD19.50 which also includes the dolphin show. But since we were with Mel who's working at Singapore (I forgot the name of the pass that were exclusive for them) we only paid SGD13.50. Underwater World is so-so compared to Atoll Reef at Ocean Park, HK. And since it was a Sunday when we went there, there were hordes of people inside. We had a hard time taking pictures of us with the fish inside the aquarium. The one better thing in Underwater World is that they have the conveyor belt where you just have to hop in and it will take you around the aquarium. But wait, I think they also have that at Atoll Reef. I take it back.

I think it only took us 30 mins to go around and take pictures inside Underwater World. Then we're off to the dolphin show. We took the red line bus (na kulay yellow pa rin hehe) going to the Dolphin Lagoon. Again I think Ocean Park's dolphin show is better since aside from dolphins they also have sea lions that are oh-so-adorable. Although the good thing about Sentosa is that they have pink dolphins (so cute!) and the audience can interact with the dolphins (IF you're lucky enough to be picked by the host). Wait, I think at Ocean Park there's also an audience who was picked to interact with the dolphin and sea lion. But it still better at Sentosa, in this aspect, because they have more interactions and more people get to interact with the dolphins - they picked 6 people who waded the waters to be with the dolphins. Wish ko lang may dala silang pamalit na damit. Medyo bad trip lang coz it was raining when we went to Sentosa and when we got to Dolphin Lagoon, all the seats under the tents where already taken. We had to seat holding our umbrellas so that we won't get wet. Buti na lang sa kalagitnaan ng show medyo tumila din ang ulan.

After the dolphin show we went straight to the Musical Fountain. Yes, we didn't go to the other attractions at Sentosa. Sabi kasi nila Jo di naman daw ganon kaganda. But that's okay with me since mahal din naman yung mga entrance fee. Atleast yung binayaran namin two-in-one and yung Musical Fountain is for free. Before the show started we went up the Merlion Walk to take pictures. The Merlion at Sentosa is the biggest in Singapore.

It's really big that we can still see it from our seats at the Musical Fountain.

The show started at 740pm. The sun sets at a later time at Singapore (compared here at Manila). Dun mga 7pm medyo parang 5pm dito sa atin. The light show was amazing. It was the first time I watched a show like that. I had a hard time keeping my mouth close hahaha. I was literally in awe at the spectacle in front of me.

This is Kiki the monkey from Sentosa and he has a big crush on Princess Pearl. Sayang I don't have a picture of her. That small man in blue and yellow is the host of the show.

I forgot the name of this robot, but this is the sibling of Kiki.

Hello, hello, hello ... that's the song from the show. Puro ganyan lang narinig ko kaya after the show kumakanta na ko nyan. Uwian na after the light show but before the dreaded cable car ride more picture taking.
